Dave woke up with a start, his breathing heavy and his heart pumping way faster than it should have been. He spotted the mess of hair in front of him. He was reading something. A textbook, probably. He had been trying so hard to stay on top of his work recently.

Dave sat up and pulled John closer to him, his face burying into John’s shoulder.

“Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck,”

Dave was shaking from how much effort it was taking not to cry.

“Another one?” John asked quietly.

Dave nodded into his shoulder, sucking in a breath.

“You’re okay,” John said as he moved his hands up to Dave’s, “Shh, I’m here. It wasn’t real. Dave, it’s okay.”

“S-shit,” Dave murmured, trying to hide himself deeper into John.

And John knew why.

Because he could feel his shoulders going wet with each shuddering gasp Dave gave.
